The SBGrid Consortium is located at Harvard Medical School in the Longwood Medical Area of Boston.

Building Access

  • Visitors without a Harvard or Hospital ID should first stop at the Building C security desk (marked S on the map) to check in and receive a temporary ID. The entrance to the Seeley G. Mudd (SGM) building is also marked on the map.
  • Harvard or Hospital ID holders may proceed directly to SGM and use the card reader or card camera at the entrance for access.
  • All other visitors must obtain a temporary ID at the Building C security desk. Once issued, the temporary ID will allow access to SGM using the card camera at the entrance.

Please note that registered workshop and meetup participants will be pre-registered with Security. All other visitors must contact SBGrid in advance to arrange pre-registration.

Parking

  • Public Parking

    Available at garages in the Longwood Medical Area:
    • 333 Longwood Avenue
    • 350 Longwood Avenue
    • 375 Longwood Avenue

  • Reserved Parking

    The NRB Garage (77 Avenue Louis Pasteur) must be booked in advance and is only available at limited times.

Public Transit

  • Green Line (E branch): Stop at Longwood Medical Area station on Huntington Avenue.
  • Green Line (D branch): Stop at Longwood station on Brookline Avenue.
  • Both stations are a short walk to Harvard Medical School and the Seeley G. Mudd building.

Overnight Accommodation

If you're looking for overnight accommodations in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA) in Boston, here are some of the best and most convenient options:

  • The Inn at Longwood Medical - The only hotel directly in the LMA, attached to several hospitals. Very convenient for overnight stays related to meetings, or workshops.
  • Hilton Garden Inn Boston Brookline - Opened in 2021, about a 10-15 minute walk from Longwood. Modern, good for both short and longer stays.

Tips

Many visitors choose to stay in the Back Bay/Fenway area or Coolidge Corner, which are lively neighborhoods with easy access to Longwood by foot or the Green Line. Hotel rates in Boston can vary dramatically depending on the season and local events (for example, Red Sox games, graduations, or conferences). For the best deal, it's wise to check multiple search engines such as Google Maps/Hotels, Hotwire, or similar platforms.
